Despite all the skepticism over making a Telugu version of Bollywood chartbuster Munni Badnam Hui, composer Devi Sri Prasad has produced a foot-tapping number with a very catchy name — Kevv Keka — for Gabbar Singh. The number is already on top of the charts.
“I liked the number Munni Badam Hui and was aware of its huge popularity. But I was confident of coming up with a better catchline as well as a rocking tune,” said Devi Sri Prasad. “I just focused for a few weeks to belt out a rocking number and fans have lapped it up. Even Chiranjeevi garu said that I have done a good job.” The song, which features Malaika Arora Khan, Abhimanyu Singh and Pawan Kalyan, has alone cost producer Ganesh Rs 2 crore.
With his score for Gabbar Singh, the composer has regained his prominence in the industry after scoring few duds in recent past.
“I am passionate about music and like to do good work. This number game is quite dicey. Leading film-makers always had confidence in me, so I never felt insecure even for a minute,” he said.
Devi Sri Prasad put to rest rumours about him working with Akon. “There’s nothing on the cards for now, but I would like to work with international pop icons Shakira or Nicole of Pussycat Dolls,” he said.
