Girls outperform boys in SSC exams

Image Description hereGirls outperformed boys in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination in the State with a pass percentage of 88.76 against 86.97 per cent by boys. Releasing the results here, Minister for Secondary Education K Parthasarathy said 9,22,121 candidates passed the examination in the regular category out of 10,49,689 candidates appeared by registering overall pass percentage 87.84. The pass percentage has increased by 4.74 per cent this year compared to last year, the Minister said the pass percentage of private students stood at 44.83 Of 2,27,327 candidates who appeared in private category, 1,01,930 candidates cleared the exams registering a pass percentage of 44.83. Stating that 3,588 schools secured 100 percent results this year, he said there was an increase of 1026 schools securing 100 per cent results compared to last year.

However, he said 15 schools secured ‘zero’ percent results this year and the Karimnagar District secured the highest pass percentage of 93.88 followed by Kadapa and Nalgonda while the State capital Hyderabad registered lowest pass percentage of 76.94.
Stating the grade system has been introduced from this year, he said grade point average are shown in memo or performance statements. The supplementary examinations for failed students would be held from June 20 to July 3, the Minister added.
