The lukewarm response to Department in Hyderabad has probably crushed Rana’s hopesof scoring his first commercial success. Even though he tried to breathe life into the role of an upright and dare-devil cop, the clichéd storyline and RGV’s odd camera positions have tested the patience of the audience. Rana even worked hard on building his body but his efforts have gone waste. “Even few Hollywood films were torn to pieces by critics when they were released, but later they were hailed as cult movies, so a different and visually striking film like Department hasn’t caught the attention of Indian critics too,” said RGV on his twitter page. Let’s see whether or not this insipid cop story is hailed differently a few years down the line.
