He will have two weddings — one for the family and friends, and the other for his fans. Southern actor Ram Charan Teja, who will marry his childhood sweetheart Upasana Kamineni, says he is expecting 4,000 guests at each function and that Bollywood’s names – Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan – will attend his wedding.Son of superstar Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan is making his debut in Hindi films with Zanjeer remake and says: “There’s just no question of not inviting my fans.”
Upasana, granddaughter of Prathap C. Reddy, founder-chairman of Apollo Hospitals, and Ram Charan got engaged in December last year.
Excerpts from the interview:
Q: So big day is around the corner?
A: Yup, I can’t tell you what it is like. Upaasna is already my wife in my mind and heart and we are partying and attending poojas every night and catching up on some sleep during the day. On Sunday my father is hosting pre-wedding dinner and Salman Khan is landing here (Hyderabad) for it.
Q: When and where is the wedding?
A: Well, the first wedding is on June 14 morning at Upaasna’s farmhouse (in Hyderabad), which we’ve converted into a banquet hall. And the second wedding is the next morning at the same venue.
Q: Please explain?
A: The wedding on June 14 is for family and friends. That’s expected to be attended by around 4,000 people. Then the same evening we’re hosting a reception for around 7,000 guests. The next morning we’ll go through another wedding followed by lunch for my fans. We expect 4,000 people. But I suspect there will be a lot more people. And wait. It doesn’t end there. On June 15 evening we’re hosting a reception for the staff and family of the Apollo group of hospitals.
Q: A wedding specially for the fans?
A: There’s just no question of not inviting my fans. They are a part of my father’s and my extended family. And since we can’t have so many people at one wedding we just extended the wedding into a double event.
Q: And the honeymoon?
A: Just a four-day break. We’re yet to decide where we’re going. But it will be somewhere quiet with no traffic or shopping. It has to be in India since I’ve to return in four days and resume shooting.
Q: Has your Hindi improved.
A: “Agar Hindi mein film karna hai toh Hindi bolni hogi.” My first look for Zanjeer is out. I can’t wait to know what Amitabh Bachchan saab thinks of it. He is coming here on June 14 for my wedding.
Q: Who else is coming from Mumbai?
A: Salman landed on Sunday with his friends who are also my friends. Salman wanted to spend some time with my dad. They go back a long way. Hope to workout with him. We’ve worked out together in Mumbai. Believe me, it was the toughest workout I’ve had. Salman made sure I didn’t feel lonely in Mumbai.
Q: What about your friends from the Telugu film industry?
A: They’ve all taken time off to help with the preparations. Suriya, Shruti Haasan, Tamannah, Kajal Aggarwal, everyone. I left it to my fellow-actors to invite all my friends from the industry. Everybody has left their shooting to be part of the wedding preparations. It’s like a family wedding for them. And considering this is the last wedding in my family, my two sisters are married, there is a lot of excitement.
Q: How do you feel about being a married actor?
A: I feel a man, when married, becomes more balanced. All the extra-curricular activities are done away with. The focus is on work and family. I am getting married young. I’ve known Upaasna for seven years. She was my best friend. Then we started dating two years back. So I am marrying my best friend. I can’t ask for more. I sometimes ask her to switch off the wifely side and listen to me as a friend. She knows which buttons to press.
Q: How does she get along with your family?
A: You know, when I told her I am building a separate home for us at the Golf Course area for us to live in after marriage, she put her foot down. She insists we stay with my parents.
Q: That’s so considerate
A: Well, she has a selfish motive. She says she can’t handle me alone. She needs my parents’ help. That was below the belt.
Q: So are you a spoilt brat at home?
A: I was pampered by all my father’s directors and producers during childhood. But at home my father made sure I led a normal life.

You may be wondering how a film that has not yet been released complete 100 days. The catch is that Eega completed 100 days after its audio was released. The Eega audio was released with a lot of hype back in March and yet the film has not released. Usually any big film gets released within a month of releasing the audio. One of the reasons for this is said to be the re-shooting of several scenes and re recording being done on them.

An unfortunate accident happened at Ram Charan, Upasana Sangeet ceremony as Chiranjeevi daughter Sushmita’s daughter fell down from the first floor of a building. It happened at around 8.30 PM on Monday when everyone is getting ready for the grand Sangeet.Chiranjeevi who was receiving the guests at that moment took the baby in his hands and rushed to the hospital. She has been admitted in Apollo Hospital and is undergoing treatment in intensive care unit. The baby suffered few injuries on head.
Luckily the baby is out of danger and is recovering, sources say. She is still in ICU under the supervision of Apollo CEO Hari Prasad. Hospital staff is not giving any details to the media about the baby’s injuries or current status of her health. We all wish the baby a speedy recovery.

Star producer Dil Raju expressed unhappiness with the way things are progressing with regard to movie collections and records in the industry. The ace producer said that declaring collections is a publicity stunt to lure the public and the collections of only a few movies are true and transparent.Dil Raju elucidates that we need a minimum of Rs.40 crores to complete a film with star hero, and it’s pretty tough to break even. So where’s the question of profit? We need to bring down the production cost.

If YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy wins 17 out of the 18 assembly seats up for byelections, then a huge contingent of MLAs from both the Congress and TDP will turn up at Raj Bhavan to swear loyalty to him, said political sources on Monday. Samantha has been the toast of Tollywood this season and has a slew of big-ticket releases lined up for release. The actress may have earned the ‘lucky mascot’ tag in Tollywood, but her own luck hasn’t been great in the last month or so. Sam is down with an illness which has messed up her dates and caused her to back out of Mani Ratnam’s flick, “Kadal”. The shooting of Mahesh and Venkatesh-starrer “Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu” (“SVSC”) was also cancelled recently due to her ill state of health.
The actress’ hectic shooting schedules and horde of new projects down South has only made her condition worse. Director Nandini Reddy, who is working with her in an untitled flick, says, “Samantha has been unwell for the last one month or so. She seems to have aggravated the condition due to all the travelling that comes with moving from one set to the other. She has been shooting non-stop for the last eight months. Doctors have advised her to stay home and rest until she gets better.”
Ace music director Devi Sri Prasad couldn’t grace the audio launch of his upcoming film Julaayi. He had gone to Singapore to attend IIFA ceremony and planned to come directly to Hyderabad to attend the audio launch. However, the moment he arrived at the airport, he was told that the flight was delayed due to some technical issues. “Stuck in singaporeairport since 6am this mrng..But till now the 9.15 am dint take off bcoz of tech prolms.. Mite take off only at 7pm. “JULAI” audio launch this evng.. But am stuck in Singaporeairport..No direct flite to hyd!! OMG!! Was eager to meet the Fans n hav fun. ” Devi Sri Prasad posted on Twitter.
Meanwhile, the event, which is happening in Hyderabad, saw the presence of several bigwigs from the industry. Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, the film has Allu Arjun and Ileana in lead roles. N Radhakrishna produced the film. The film is expected to hit the screens in July.
Pawan Kalyan – The name itself is enough to pass high votage current. Every time, the fans see someone stepping inside the auditorium they assume it as Pawan and go berserk chanting his name all the time. Even the guests who has come to wish the Julayi team, got down from the stage only after speaking a few words about Powerstar.
