Film: Lovely
Starring: Aadhi, Anchal, Shanvi,Rajendra Prasad, Vennela Kishore
Director: B.Jaya
Producer: BA Raju
Banner: BA Arts
Music: Anoop Rubens
Aplive.net Rating : 2.5/5
Story:
Akash (Aadi) and Lavanya (Shanvi) meets each other in the disguise of their respective friends Kittu (Vennela Kishore) and Lalli (Chinmayi). They both fall in love and Lavanya’s father Mangalampalli Maharadhi (Rajendra Prasad) doesn’t like Akash in their first meeting. He decides to know Akash by staying close to him and goes as a servant to Akash’s home. What happens next is the crux of the story.
Analysis:
Lovely is a romantic entertainer with a tinge of father sentiment. The film should have been smooth in narration and simpler in execution. But the confused narration made it complex towards the end. The setup is not so effective. Hence, the film took off on a very dull note.
Things get better as the story progresses ahead, but proceedings fail to impress due to bad direction and technical errors. There have been many abrupt scenes in the film that mars the narrative. However, Anup’s peppy and energetic music did lift the film at times and kept the interests alive.
Bad direction in key scenes has been the major drawback of the film. The climax should be the high point for this film as the logical reasons are only given at the end. But those scenes didn’t come out as expected. Most part is left to audience’s imagination and that is not a right practice.
Performances:
Aadi is a confident performer and energetic dancer. He should work on his expressions to become a full fledged actor. Shanvi is pretty but doesn’t know to act. Rajendra Prasad is fine. His presence added to the value of the film. Vennela Kishore did a neat job and is aptly supported by Chinmayi.
Ahuti Prasad, Paruchuri Gopala Krishna, Harsha Vardhan and others are apt in their respective roles.
Technicalities:
Dialogues by Shyam are good in parts. Music by Anup is the highlight of the film. Almost all the songs are good and are neatly picturized. Background score is okay. Cinematography is good for a low budget film. Editing is one of the biggest minuses of the film. Production values are fine.
Direction is okay in few scenes and not up to the mark in rest of the scenes. Youthful scenes are not brought on to the screen in a convincing way. Few scenes like the chase in the second half are good. Had the director maintained the grip throughout the movie, Lovely could have thrown a major surprise at the audience.
Verdict :
Lovely has its positives but has suffered due to flaws at crucial junctures. Anup’s songs are pleasing and we have to see if these songs have enough strength to draw decent collections or not
