Ra One Movie Review

Once again, it's Shah Rukh Khan's sheer presence and energy, coupled with the narrative's don't-stop-to-think pace that makes 'Ra.One' watchable despite its flaws. This is an event movie, a spectacle, not really a film. It's 2 hours 35 minutes of special effects, action sequences and superficial romantic and emotional entanglements. What's missing from 'Ra.One' is a sure-footed director's touch. Anubhav Sinha fails to bring all the elements together, and while this superhero film has plenty sound and fury, it's sorely lacking slickness.

RA.ONE raises the bar, takes not a step or two, but a giant leap and adheres to international standards, in terms of execution.But the soul, I wish to add, is very desi. That's precisely the reason why RA.ONE emerges trumps. RA.ONE is beauty [read good looking film] with brains [read content]. RA.ONE is the most ambitious, most expensive and the most technologically complex Hindi film ever made. It's a film that will rewrite the textbook of computer graphics in Hindi cinema. RA.ONE is a perfect vehicle that does justice to the talent of Shah Rukh Khan. . SRK steers this physically challenging lead role with high-spirited self-belief. On the whole, RA.ONE is a solid entertainer, no two opinions on that. It's not merely a great looking film, but also has soul, which is so essential to strike a chord with the avid moviegoer.

Ra-One works on several accounts. First because it has some interesting clashes betwen G-One, the good robot(Shah Rukh Khan) and Ra-One, the bad robot.Secondly, the bond that G-One develops with the family he is supposed to protect, Kareena and her young son Prateik, is warm and winsome. And finally it is the excellently sung and choreographed Chammak-Challo number which keeps the mercury rising to unprecendented heights. The film falls back in the emotional quotient. In some places, it even gets somewhat tacky Small quibbles, actually, since Ra-One is sure to usher in a crackling Diwali at the box office and give the audience paisa vasool entertainment.Go have a blast.

The Anubhav Sinha-directed Ra-One revels in being a zippy, zany, zowie ride. And the upbeat news is that the special effects fandango actually works, the closest yet to international standards: So if you’re in a feel-thrill mood, go right ahead and chillax.It’s after establishing the characters and clarifying the storyline (which could have become a cat’s cradle of confusion) that India’s answer to Hollywood’s superhero blockbusters, becomes truly kickass. The post-intermission reels are riveting, enhanced by the vivaciously choreographed and executed Chhamak Chhalo dance set piece. Undoubtedly, the extravaganza belongs to Shah Rukh Khan. Why the four stars? you may cavil. Answer: why not? Here’s a technical accomplishment with as much heart as hardware.

Ra.One is a subpar superhero film with a mediocre soundtrack and occasionally terrific effects. For those of you looking to compare, it's well below Krrish on the superpecking order, and far, far below Robot. It has a good villain in Rampal, a striking heroine in Kareena Kapoorand a visual effects team that, while derivative, gets the job done rather well. The problem lies in the hodgepodge script -- a congealed instant-noodles mess of mixed flavours and overzealous Bollywoodisation -- and, even more crucially, in the man.The film's narrative, as a result, is disjointed and sluggish, with a mere handful of good scenes.

The film goes where Krrish and Robot went before and doesn’t stop there. It strives desperately hard to venture beyond. The breakneck ride certainly has its moments of fun. But, on the whole, RA.One is far too derivative to take anybody except the most gullible of moviegoers.RA.One is like a colourful Popsicle that looks tantalising, tickles the palate while it lasts, but leaves no particular after-taste. Sound and fury? Loads of it. Significance? Not much. Two and a half stars would have been in order – the extra half is for the sheer scale of the film’s ambition. So what if it falls short?

The first 20 minutes and some portions in the second half which are boring; the story, which is about a video game, will not be fully understood by the computer-illiterate older generation. Watch or Not?:Definitely watch Ra.One for the superlative performances and the grand visual effects and the 3D effects.

Can a film which boasts some of the most boggling special effects ever seen in an Indian venture, and a couple of Bollywood’s most jiggly, shapely navels—one male, the other female, one pierced, one not but oh-so-hot—be a slurry sludge? 'Ra.One’ goes one better. It is a superstarry slurry sludge, with just the occasional consolatory sparkle.The whole film seems to be dipped in the stop-start-go stutter of a video game.More Ra.Gone than 'Ra.One'.

For most parts, this doesn’t seem a super-hero movie at all. It’s more of a weirdly boiled, Bollywood please all: vaguely soppy romance, Salman-type sasta comedy, narcissistic SRK set piece. Die-hard fans of all three genres are likely to be disappointed.people have flocked to movie theatres for this! They must have, basically for two reasons: SRK, and the special effects. No surprises, they’re both there, in good measure

The SFX, no doubt, is the best you'll have seen in a Hindi film (and that's a big plus), but the shoddy writing spoils the party. The disappointing thing about Ra.One is not that it resorts to inane jokes and done-to-death cliches in a desperate bid to 'entertain', but that it had the potential to truly kick some - as G.One puts it - "fat ass." In stead, we get a film that works in half measures.

Ra.One is surely crafted as a kids’ entertainer. Compared to Chitti, the emotional side of G-One takes a hit.  SRK’s fans who are missing him on silver screen after ‘My Name Is Khan’, can grab this opportunity to see their hero in a never-seen-before avatar. The movie is a joyful cinematic experience for game enthusiasts.
